When do you plan to Upgrade ???

By ggwbm ·
I am currently looking for insight as to when you are planning to upgrade your desktop os and MS Office in the enterprise. Currently we are on 2000 and NT4 but are still deciding on when we should do the XP waltz. Should it be a rolling migration? Mass deployment? What are your plans?

We skips

We are currently on NT and 98, and are planning to skip directly to XP for desktops. Similarly we went from Office 95 to Office 2000.

Skipping a generation means your platform will be stable longer and you won't be spending all your time planningand implementing migrations.

As to going from 2000 to XP, I'd have to ask why. 2000 has most of the benefits of XP over NT. And its been out long enough to shake out the bugs(we also wait until the first service pack before rolling out).

As tomigration types, I think it depends on your business. We do some groups en masse, and others in a rolling fashion.

James
