when on internet, display becomes garble

By Eideto ·
We are having a problem with fonts being displayed correctly after were are on the internet.. After a certain time browsing the internet, students computers automatically lose text as if it was being erased. The display becomes garbled like some of the pixels just aren't showing up..

I can't locate anything pertaining to this in the knowledgebase or anywhere else.

Has anyone else had this problem, i would appreciate any help you can offer..

the machines are windows 95 B with novell client 3.21 and pentium mmx 200.. They are connected to a Hp Procurve 4000 M

need anymore info, please contact me directely at ben@pctechnician.net

I've had the problem, and the only good news I have is that I've never seen this to be permanent damage.

The only solution I have is to log off and back on, or shutdown and restart.

*Sometimes* I've been able to identify an offending program (I've seen this without surfing the web!) and stop it, and the problem clears up.

This sounds like a video card issue. Some cards in certain display modes won't function properly...what card are you using? I've been through this problem many times. Best advice is to update the driver, but I've actually had to go BACK a couple of versions to resolve it. Let me know if you need further assistance.

Ben,

I've seen this when I did support work at Toshiba. It seemed to be a memory management issue, but if I remember correctly, it was only happening with the early versions of Win95. A reboot clears the memory. You might try one of the memory management programs that allow you to reallocate resources dynamically. I can't remember specific titles because I haven't used them for quite awhile, but try tucows.com. I'm sure you can find one for free. Hope this helps.
