First, I think you have to make sure that YOU have understood what the customer has asked for. Once you are sure and still see that the solution for the problem is not the "best" in your opinion, is to ask the customer if he is interested in hearing about another possible solution. All of this must be done both professionally and without the slightest bit of condescension
