Where do dll files come from?

By janfromct ·
Suddenly I am getting this message on a networked computer: An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\WINNT\system32\btiein.dll,Download". Where would this have come from and how can I make this error message stop popping up?

The BTIEIN.DLL is part of a hotbar and is spyware. To correct the problem, download SpyBot S&amp at http://www.safer-networking.org/ and do a scan. Remember to update it after you install it. Hope this helps.

DLL - Dynamic Link Library

These files are used by programs to know which other files to associate and link with when being installed and used.

I would use Adaware - www.lavasoftusa.com --> download. Once downloaded and installed, run the update and scan the heck out of your pc. If you have never done this before, it will find alot of bad malicious files running rampant in your PC.

Good luck.

Good Call, I use Adaware also and you should keep in mind that some programs, ie. hotbar and other toolbars and calendar programs, may be removed as they are considered "spyware". I don't support any spyware and will not load a utility if it comes with spyware or malware. your call...

Good Luck!
