Why can't i install programs on VISTA in a two partition environment?

By info ·
I have XP Pro running succesfully on my first primary partition. On my second partition I have just installed Vista Ultimate.

But when I try to install software, (the same software as I have on the XP partition) Vista gives me an error - saying the program has stopped working. I've tried it so far with my ISP software, my soundcard drivers/software etc. Surely I can install this software on both partitions??

Hope you may help!

Jean-Paul

I take it that you are attempting to install drivers for hardware

Is this right? If so you need Vista Drivers as the XP ones will not necessarily work with Vista.

If you need Vista Drivers you can try the Vista Community Forum hare for drivers as well as answering questions about Vista.

Oh gosh. You may very well be right - but what a major hassle. It will take an age to find new drivers for everything! I will investigate further and thank you very much for your advice.

I'll let you know how I get on.
