By thu_phan ·
Hello:

Our new Windows 2003 Server R2 DHCP server is having problem. It keeps on bouncing the DHCP to be disconnected. I have to go into the server and restart the system quite a few times every day.

What do I need to know to make this stay...

Hi there,
First of all, be sure there are no other devices (Servers, routers etc.) acting as DHCP servers on your network. If you are sure of this (leave DHCP on Server 2003 in the stopped mode and start up a PC - check using 'ipconfig /all' in a Command Prompt of the PC as to whether it is getting a valid IP from another DHCP server somewhere).

If no other DHCP Servers exist, try to Unauthorize and after a reboot Authorize again the DHCP Server.

If this doesn't help, you probably need to uninstall and reinstall DHCP server.
