Win 98 Standby Fails

By Isaiah522 ·
My Pentium2 with Win 98 has a problem going into standby, manually and automatically. The pc goes to standby with three beeps, then immediately restarts with one beep. At times it will not go standby manually, but will automatically. After being left on for several days the PC may standby automatically.

Win 98 Standby Fails

Hi,

Check your BIOS settings for power management and make sure they look right.

Also, it may not go into standby correctly if things are actively running at the time. Perhaps you have something in the background running?

Cheers,
Tim.

1. Update your motherboard / chipset drivers.
2. Update your video driver.
3. Go through the shutdown trouble shooting tips posted at www.aumha.org
