Win XP Mouse problems

By ladlenits ·
I just installed win xp pro on my computer and i keep loseing my mouse pointer. At any given time with no consitency it will just disapear and some of the colors get distorted. I have a PIII 600Mhz 256MB Ram and an NVIDA TNT2 64Pro. I have downloaded the newest detonator drivers and even the drivers microsoft recomended in the windows update, nothing has helped. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

My first suggestion would be to update the BIOS. I have seen mouse problems under ME resolved by updating the BIOS. Find out the make and model of your motherboard and go to the manufacturer's website. Go to the support area and click on the BIOS. At some point you will have to enter your motherboard make and model to get to the correct download. It is VERY important that you be 100% sure of this information. If you have the manual that came with your motherboard, use that for reference.Once downloaded, you can unzip the files to a floppy that you have already made bootable. Boot with the floppy and follow the instructions. It is a good idea to save your old BIOS when asked.

I did try updating the BIOS and never thought of trying that but that actualy wasnt what fixed it. What got rid of the mouse problem was that i took off the 3D mouse pointer or the shadow under the mouse. That took care of the problem howver my computer continued to act Really buggy, and i continued to get the wierd color distortion every once in a while.
