Win2k no dial up networking icon..

By isadore ·
Help. I am running win 2k. ICS and RAS has been operating just fine until 2 weeks ago.
Now I have no dialup networking icon in My network places. (Whole screen was blank till I R&R the network card). Is there a way to R&R Dial up networking? I notice that Remote access service fails to start, with "Access
denied", and "Unable to create buffers" errors. perhaps getting RAS service to
start will give me back the icon. Do not want to reinstall Win2k, but am willing
to R&R DUN.

Using your Win setup, place WIN2K disk in CD. Go to control panel and use the install new software icon. Remove DUN then reinstall DUN. This should fix your problem. You made need to also install RAS and ICS. This can be done at the same time.Remember to reboot after install that that the programs can be registered.

Thanks for the reply, but there is no DUN or RAS entries in add/remove windows components in add remove programs, in control panel that I was able to find. Perhaps I missed it somehow??

I guess I don't fully understand your question... If you go to your contol panel, you should have a "network and dial up connections" icon. By double clicking this you should see your dial up connections.
