Win2k SP4

By verd ·
I am running Windows 2000 dual boot with Windows 98SE. My Windows 2000 is SP2. When SP3 came out I downloaded it and installed it with the option to uninstall if I needed to. After I installed it my computer would freeze up and I would have to manually shut it down. At the time I thought it might have been a bad download. When SP4 came out I ordered the CD and installed it first on two of my other computers with Win2k without a problem. But when I did it on this one once again I have this freezing problem. I had to uninstall SP4 and go back to SP2. Question: Does this have something to do with my computer being a dual boot?

No the two installations will have no effect on each other unless you installed into the same partition which I do not think you can do

Were the freeze problems in Windows 2K or 98SE? Were you still able to dual boot after loading SP3? Were you using Windows to control the dual boot or a 3rd party software? Now that you have gone back to SP2 have your issues been resolved? If the service pack upgrade did not effect the ability to dual boot or the functionality of your 98SE, I would not be inclined to believe that the dual boot had anything to do with your lock up issues.

The freeze problems are in Win2k. I was able to dual boot after installing both SP3 and SP4.
I am using the Windows dual boot and not 3rd party software.
After un-installing both SP3 and SP4 the problem does not happen
If the dual boot is not causing the problem, then what could it be??
