Win2k-The Security Accounts Manager SAM

i am using a win2000 workstation. But i cannot log on to the domain , it bring out an Error message "The Security Accounts Manager (SAM) or Local Security Authority (LSA) server was in the wrong state to perform the security operation. "

I cannot log on also to the local workstation.

Please what can i do.

that is not enuf information for us to say. i suggest you contact your network administrator. there may be a problem with the domain controller or other servers on your network or you may be simply out of time-sync with the domain controller. since you cannot login locally there is nothing you can do unless you want to try/can examine/change the time in the BIOS. i do not think that is likely your problem imho. your administrator can login with her account and examine the security event log for specific error numbers and description to pinpoint the problem.

Check your w2k version. This is a w2k server error when attempting to start the kerberos kdc service in a domain where it is not a controller. You should be able to safely disable the service. Go to Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services and find the Kerberos KDC service Startup. Change the startup type to disabled.
