Win7 64 bit on Win2k3 Network?

By aennis ·
We have had one of our associates get a Laptop, problem is that it has Windows 7 Proffesional 64 bit on it. Of course they did not contact the IT team before doing so. Problem is that we run Windows Server 2003 32 bit, on a Domain and all other desktops and laptops are running XP Pro 32 bit. Will Win7 64 bit be a problem or cause any problems on our network?

The only possible problem is related to it being 7

So if you can configure the Network to accept a 7 System the fact that it's a 64 Bit OS will have no other impact.

Will Win7 64 bit be a problem or cause any problems on our network? I guess what I should have asked was, Has anyone run into any problems putting a Win7 machine on an exsisting Server 2k3 network? Is there anything special that I might have to do to allow it to see the storage server or Exchange 2003?

Win 7 uses a different Networking Setup to older Windows OS's

So that is the only issue that you should have. If you have Vista Systems on the existing Network it should just slot straight in. If you don't have existing Vista Systems you'll need to modify the Domain slightly to accept the newer Windows OS in use.

Doesn't make any difference if it's 32 or 64 Bit it works the same way tot he DC.
