create a shared folder with proper permissions (if networked).
go to start — run — type in the computers name that you are trying too send files to, and the share. or you can map a network drive to the folder, either would use this format
      \\%computername%\%sharename%
so if the computername is empire and the share name was Darth_Vader, it would look like this
      \\Empire\Darth_Vader

Or you can map by IP address like this
      \\192.168.2.1\Darth_Vader

If not networked, a cd burner should work just fine, A flash drive should work just fine too. I havent used floppies in a long time so I would not suggest it except as a last resort.

almost forgot, you can get a crossover cable and connect both together to transfer files too (if both have network cards).

      Try using XP’s migration wizard.

Just re-read the question. Answer 2 covers most of it. The only thing I would add is make sure both pc’s are in the same workgroup, and you have an identical account on both pc’s (same username and password)

The quickest way is to remove the win 98 hard drive from the old computer.

In the new computer, unplug the cd-rom drive and plug the win98 hard drive in its place.

      Boot up XP.

XP will recognize the new drive.

The just use Windows explorer to copy the files you want from the 98 drive to the XP drive (D to C)

The question is quite unclear. Are you upgrading a PC from w98 to wxp, or do you have a w98 pc and a wxp pc? The easy answer would be to copy your files to a Floppy disk or cd…

use OCR (optical character recognition) software, and place the monitors very close together so that one can see the other one
