Windows 2000 Domain Controller

By shaunl ·
Hi can you make a windows 2000 server machine a domain controller without installing active Directory.

And if I wanted to install terminal server on this machine does it have to a DC or can it just be a standalone server

1. NO NO NO. ADS is _the_ follower up of the NT domain modem.
2. Yes. When you don't have a domain on a TS, users authenticate to the local SAM (if standalone server) and/or to a domain account (if server is member of an ADS or even a NT domain).
The latter is even preferred, clusters of TS servers usually are member servers only and not combined with ADS tasks.

Have fun,
