One option is to go to

http://www.netswitcher.com

and download the NetSwitcher software... install it and configure it for any number of domains/workgroups. Then choose (at boot), which network you are connecting to. It still only costs $14/license and is a valuable resource for consultants who constantly cart their laptops from site to site.

The easiset way to do this is to browse to it via unc and IP

So if ones' IP address was 192.168.1.1

You can simply browse to it by opening up an address bar (my computer or a browser window, essentially any browser window with an adress bar will do)

Type in \\192.168.1.1 (or whatever the IP is, assuming that it is on the same subnet)

You should be prompted for a username/password for the system, And then you are in.

Obviulsy you will need local accounts on each of the machines. You won't be able to use your domain account to log into your xp system from your 2k desktop. You need to create a local account on your xp machine and your 2k machine so that they match.

All because they don't "See" each other in network neighboorhood, does not mean that they don't "See" each other. Oxymoron I know.

IP sees all though.

Netswitcher is an excellent solution for this.

Alternatively, you can set up hardware profiles.

Take a look here for instructions and details:

Delete any spaces in the URLs.

Good luck...hope this helps!
