Windows 2000 on 2 different Networks

By trumbutis ·
I have a laptop would like to connected to my peer to peer network at home, and when at work connect to the Domain at work. At home I use a docking station but at work I do not.

How do I setup Windows 2000 so I do not have to reconfigure the network setting every time.

there are 3rd party programs but I'm not sure which one works with W2k try netswitcher and TCP swapper.
You can also try different hardware profiles one for the docked config and the other not docked config. So on boot you will be prompted to select a profile you want to boot to.

Hope this helps

The easiest way is actually to have two separate ethernet cards. Each is defined separately, with its own IP number, DNS server, etc., and one or the other is live. It requires absolutely no user action other than plugging in the cable wherever you are.

Good luck.

All our laptop users who have home networks, or do alot of work at remote networks utilize a utility called NetSwitcher. I have to say, all you have to do is log on to the current network, save the settings and name the profile and your done. It is so easy to use. And a bonus... its cheap

Here is the site:
