Windows 2000 Pro

By jwstout ·
Our enviroment calls for a numerical naming convention to match thier respective asset number. I'm having trouble naming the Win2k Pro machines with tis convention. Is there a work-around for this?

You can type in an "A" for asset before the asset number. That is what we have done here. There is no way to have a 2000 computer (server or pro) have all numbers for the name.

This problem sounds like it was caused by
who ever planned (or more correctly failed to plan) the naming convention. Remember the 5 P's. Proper Preperation Prevents Poor Performance. Other than the suggestion already given, even Windows 2000 Procannot make up for poor planning or poor documentation. LB, MCP

The naming convention is what the customer wanted, it's what they pay for. If you have a solution to offer please post. If you are being a criteque you offer nothing to me or whom ever reads this post. I asked for TECHNICAL HELP NOT PERSONAL OPNION.IF YOU HAVE A TECHNICAL SOLUTION PLEASE RESPOND, IF NOT YOUR OPINION WILL BE NOTED AND DISREGARDED.
