Windows 2000 Pro.and HP820cse printer

By rdnagle ·
After installing the printer to LPT1 using the drivers provided by Microsoft, I am unable to print after rebooting. If I go into the port setting of LPT1 and change the setting from "never use an interrupt to any of the other two settings I am able to print again until I reboot. I checked the setting and they are where I had set them, I change the setting to one of the other choices and I can print again until I shut down or reboot. The printer acts like it's printing but I get no output. What's Up?

Why are you using the microsoft drivers? No disk from the manafacturer? Anyway, I would uninstall and download the current drivers from HP( they're free on there website) and then reinstall the printer using the new drivers. this gives you more funtionality in the printer.

Thanks, but the problem is solved. Troubleshooting under pressure can block clear thinking. It was as simple as a few BIOS setting, parallel port set to ECP instead of EPP also IRQ reserved. Thanks again.
