    Windows 2003 back up

    Locked

Recently my organisation is switching from Unix to NT (Windows server 2003). I am part of a group that has to suggest some back up soultions for data recovery (computer to computer with identical configuations) and so here I am with some basic questions. The data bases used are SQL server and lots of MS-Access files.

    (1) Domain controllers. (PDC and BDC) What do they contain? Do they contain data (in folders) also? I thought that I should suggest periodic synchronisation with promotion of BDC to PDC on fail over.

    (2) I was told that Win_2003 doesn’t have the concept of PDC, BDC etc. If so, how does one go about replication the system entries (and data as well)?

    (3) What would be the best solution for data safety – log and folder shipping?, and also for one real time data acquistion system that can happen any time?

    Sincerely,

    Anantha P.
