Windows 95 hard locked

By tmway ·
I have a micron computer that is hard locking (pushing ctrl-alt-delete does nothing)the only way to get out is to shut down. The only changes I have made to the computer is (took out old memory and added 128 meg of new memory and added a 5 gig drivewhich is slaved to the old drvie) this all started happening after I added the memory.

Could be one of several problems.

1.) reseat the memory to make sure it has been seated properly.
2.) could be bad memory. See if you can exchange it.
3.) Make sure this systems can support 128M of ram, and what configuration. 1 DIMM, 2 DIMMS, etc.
4.) Double check to make sure this memory is the right kind. (ECC, PC-100, etc....)

I called Micron before I ordered the memory. It can support up to 128 Meg and uses EDO 72 pin SiMMs with four slots available. I used four 32meg sticks which is the max available for each slot. The memory is from Kingston.

Sounds like you either got a bad dimm or didn't get a dimm that was specific to that PC. I beleive Microns need to have a specific type of ram, not just anything off the shelf.

I contacted Micron and got the correct memory and the correct amount of RAM Maximum that the motherboard was rated for. The memory is EDO 72 Pin SiMMs. Four slots were available. The memory is from Kingston.
