    Windows 98 Connectivity

    Locked

    by bob ·

I have an older laptop with windows 98 that I am trying to connect to the internet for one of the younger members of the family.
I installed a USB wireless adapter and everything went well. The wireless utility tells me that I am connected with pretty fair strength but when I open a browser it tells me the old “This Page Cannot Be Displayed” message.
I am XP spoiled and don’t have a clue as how to correct this problem.
I went through the process of connecting in internet options but still no luck.
    Can anyone provide some pointers?

go to tools — IE options — Connections — lan settings — uncheck everything in there (or set it how it should be).

I had already appropriated the settings in internet options, however, when you suggested they be checked, I did so.
Everything was set appropriately, but when I restarted the PC, it connected just fine.
        Thanks for your assistance.
