According to MS...this error is caused by certain version of Mcafee, or Norton anti-virus.

However I have found that the exception 0028: errors often have to do with network/dial up events. Usually uninstalling and reinstalling dial-up networking from add/remove ....windows setup... can fix the problem.

The other thing I have seen cause this is corrupted video drivers. Changing to standard VGA and reloading the drivers can also fix it.

Good Luck!

this could be the problem with some of the hardware devices like the mother board or the pci or isa devices in your system.

Looks like you may have video driver issues. You mention that the problem happens more when on the net. That is because you load alot more graphics when on the net. Try finding the most current drivers for your video card and **** away the old ones then install the most current or reinstall the drivers you have now.

Good Luck

Don't shoot me. I'm just the messenger. I agree with reinstalling or installing of updated video drivers. First, check the card manufacturer for updated driver versions. If you don't error-out, download these. Change your video driver to Standard VGA. Now the hard part. If you want to nip-it-at-the bud, take the old driver disk and take each file name on it and search for it on your computer and delete every entry of it. Then do a search for other driver files that may be installed. For example:for STB, stb*; for Diamond, DMD*, for ATI, ati*. Verify the file date it see if corresponds to your video driver disk file dates. Then delete the ones that do. This is all in an effert to get rid of any video driver files that may be corrupted. If you don't, the next time you boot up, Windows will recognize the card and install in from the driver files already stored in the System and Inf/Other folders. After all this, install the new video drivers. The best way is if the new file you downloaded is an .EXE file, ju
