By franzn ·
Windows 98 SE is rebooting the PC. Would anyone know what I should be looking for and any patches or possible solutions for this?
Thank you.

Windows 98 SE shutdown reboots the PC

Microsoft has solved this problem and there is a shutdown patch that you can download from their website. Try that and see if it helps. If that doesn't help, it may be a device conflict that is causing the problem. Try looking in Device Manager and see if there are any conflicts. If so, you can fix them by either deleting the faulty devices and letting Windows detect and install them again, or re-install them yourself. If there are no devices conflicting, try finding an update for BIOS. This may fix it. You may want to try to reinstall Windows, there may be a corrupted file in the Operating System, preventing shut down. If none of these work, I don't know much more to tell you. I've been working on systems with these problems and at least one of them has always worked for me. Good Luck. I hope you find this information helpful.
