By LDavidS ·
What i need to know is how i can have the 2 networks setup so they are seperate from each other, no interaction between them, but still use the same internet connection.

IP segmented network

by LarryD4 In reply to Windows and Macintosh net ...

You could segment you IP network using the basic old fashioned class subnetting

10.92.1.0 255.255.255.0 Is the network that would have the gateway on it.

10.92.2.0 Is for the PC network
255.255.255.0

10.92.3.0 Is for the MAC network.
255.255.255.0

You will have to define the routes for the network to allow usage and let each network know the gateway to the internet is out on 10.92.1.1 for instance.

Rremember that if you want your MAC network seperate from the PC network you will have to setup a router for each that gets the data to the network "above" it.

three routers

by LDavidS In reply to IP segmented network

i would accomplish this by using 3 routers. one for the gateway, one for the windows network, and one for the mac network. each configured with their own IP.
