Windows Logon

By jaymar515 ·
I am running a Novell network with Windows 2000Pro.
Is there a way that I can stop the Windows logon from coming up after the user logs on in Novell?

If use add the users Novell Account to the local Power User Group on the Windows 2000 Professional computer it will not ask for the Windows password.

There is a registry hack you can use to do an automatic logon windows logon. I'm not sure if that's what your looking for exactly but, here goes.

Fire up regedit and go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

If there is a string value there called AutoAdminLogon, change it to a 1. If it isn't there, add it and set it to 1.

Then add (if not already there) string values for DefaultDomainName, DefaultUserName, and DefaultPassword. Apply the appropriate info for you in these string values.

A side note, the password is stored in plain text so it's your call and as always, back up your registry before making changes.

To disable, change AutoAdminLogon back to 0 and delete the passwork value.

One of the best ways to stop the winlogon from comming up is by setting up "dynamic local profileing" on the Novell side.
