Windows? Mac Comparison

One is from Microsoft and runs on x86 processors, the other doesn't. MacOSX is based on FreeBSD and designed for a network environment. WinME isn't though it can be on a network. Both will allow you to connect to the internet, run MS Office (except there is no MS Access for the Mac), etc.

Of course, this question is also the start of several jokes...

There are probably more differences than similarities once you get under the hood. Win ME is windows based, OSX is unix (Mach kernel) based and originated from the work Steve Jobs was doing with NEXT.

The pros of OSX - it's stable and runs native apps fast (in the newest incarnation). The GUI is beautiful (though I'm not a fan of "the dock"). It runs on g3 and faster macintoshes and definitely has some "ooooh factor".

The negatives - it won't run many of the applications out there. Sure Apple is great for Graphics applications and for many of the most popular business apps...but you'll always have a smaller selection of software and will end up waiting for a mac version of the new hot games.

Given my choice, I like OSX better...but ME is probably my *least* favorite MS OS. I like XP more. The big deciding issue for "which is better for you" is what hardware you have and what software you want to run.

Thanks for the info about Windows Me and Mac OS X. The information was very helpful to me in understanding the difference between the two of them. After reading the answers posted in response to my question I came across another important question. I know Windows XP is considered by some Mac users as a copy of Mac OS X. I also know that Mac OS X is considered by some as a better operating system than Windows XP because it also has Unix integration as well as Windows compatibility will Windows XP only works well with the Mac, making Mac OS X a better operating system. I know this as a fact because most people I've asked have given me the same answer. However, if you were to compare Mac OS 10.2 Jaguar to Windows XP what differences are therethen? Also what's the difference between WindowsMedia Player 7.1 and Apple Quicktime 5? Quicktime 5 Pro? Quicktime 6, and Quicktime 6 Pro? In conclusion, what's the difference between RealPlayer X and Quicktime 5? THe difference between RealPlayer Xand Quicktime 5 Pro? The difference between RealPlayer X and Quicktime 6? The difference between RealPlayer X and Quicktime 6 Pro, plus the difference between RealOne Player X and Quicktime 6, Quicktime 6 Pro, Quicktime 5, and Quicktime 5 Pro?
