How does one disable Windows Messenger after applying SP2 to Win Xp Home. No longer in add/remove programs?

Here's a link to ms's info on disabling the Windows Messenger service:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q302089

This requires editing the registry. There is also a utility you can download for free to do this for you located at this link:

I haven't tried it but it probably just adds the registry entries automatically. Always back up your registry before using any tools or manually editing it!

Cheers.

The link given for uninstalling with SP1, for some reason did work, though I have installed SP2, in running commands, windows could not locate files.
