    Windows password

    Locked

Is there a way to wipe out a Windows 98 password? The user can’t remember what it is to set a new one and not be prompted at each logon since it’s different than the network password and would like it to be the same.

Real easy! Find files that end with PWL and erase them. They are the local Win9X password list files. If they are not found for the user that is logging in, it treats them as a new user. Therefore, asking what you want your password to be.

Way to follow the rules! Take the answers and not give points or even any explaination of why you did not give points. What are you saving your points for?

Search for files named *.pwl, most likely %username%.pwl where %username% is the person’s logon name, then delete it.
