Windows shutdown delay

By bengal68 ·
Is there any way to actually see what process may be delaying my XP shutdown process? Other than hit and run removal of everything from the msconfig start up. It takes almost 2 minutes when it used to be almost immediate. P4 3.0 gig -1 gig ram- 80 meg hd

Could be interrupts

by eteller In reply to Windows shutdown delay

take all the cards you can off the board, sounds like an interrupt is having trouble releasing at shut down. Also, look at how many applications are running, since each one has to be shut down before the unit can turn off.

shutdown delay and issue other commands

by mmorri8305 In reply to Could be interrupts

I am interested in if you can issue a bat file or some other command to enure a graceful application shutdown before the server actually goes down for the count. I have an application that runs as a service but the stop service command really does not kill the app properly. Can anyone help with this?
Thanks,
Mike

You don't have any

Juymp drives or memory card readers installed do you? Sometimes these can hangup a shutdown cause Windows thinks the cache needs flushed.

Maybe a fragmented swap file?
