Windows Updates Screwed Up

By kimscomputing ·
Working on a laptop - Toshiba Sattellite XP Pro
Had bagle.n virus. Removed with Stinger and ran adaware .... loaded ETrust EZ Antiviurs.

Now went to windows update to get latest patches. It showed 11 critical. Installed and rebooted. Everytime I go back into windows update it still shows the 11 critical. I have removed them in the update page and tried to install just one. But it will look like it completes and then when I go back in it still shows 11 critical. Help!

type ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 oldcatroot2 press enter

It didn't work. I did just like you said. Went to update it looked like it installed fine. I shut down and went back to Windows updates and still shows the same number needing to be downloaded.

Click Start menu, and then click the Run icon.
In the small box that Opens, type the three letters: cmd then click the OK button.
In the command prompt window that just opened (a black background and white text), type the following commands, pressing the ENTER key on your keyboard afterwards:

regsvr32 msxml3.dll

Now type the word: exit and the window will close.
Now Reboot and try and Microsoft Windows Update again
