Windows Vista Basic Home and public IP addresses

By dbarz ·
I have a need to configure the network properites for a system running VISTA Home Basic to interface with IP addresses in the public range. It won't accept those numbers in the IPV4 config section though. Is there any way to defeat or get around this or is it simply a hard limitation built into this version of VISTA?

Well Windows has supported IPv6 since [correct me if I'm wrong] Windows 2000. Vista supports it.

Never mind - just had to wind my way through VISTA to get to the right place. This works fine - I was doing it wrong.
