Windows XP boot options

By MARCONEIL ·
Hi there.
I would love to know how to edit the boot options for Windows XP. I remember seeing an article about it, but I can't find it (now that I need it)! I had dual booted XP and Me. WinMe is no longer on the computer - partition removed and formatted - but XP still gives it as an option to boot. Help!

two ways, you can edit the c:\boot.ini or rightclick my computer, properties, advanced, startup and recovery "settings" button, under default operating systems, uncheck both checkboxs that start with "time to display..."

Further to answer 1, c:\boot.ini is a hidden, system file so you may need to remove these attributes before editing it.
Try:
attrib boot.ini -s -h
edit boot.ini
remove the unneeded OS line and make sure the default entry matches to entry left in. You can also modify the wait time
attrib boot.ini +s +h

Good luck

Thanks. Forgot that the boot.ini file was hidden. Edited it with Notepad, so didn't need to go to DOS prompt to change attributes, just right-clicked it. Thanks again!!
