Could indicate an activation hash code change

by Greg Shultz Contributor In reply to Windows XP error message.

Have you recently added any major new hardware to the computer?

If so, the new hardware ID could be preventing the operating system from verifying the license correctly because the hardware hash no longer matches the hardware hash that was used for the
original product activation.

If that's the case, you might want to try reactivating your Windows XP license using the Activate Windows tool found on the Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools menu.

Page file corrupt?

by Chuckyg In reply to Windows XP error message.

Are you also getting low virtual memory errors too? If you can get to the desktop, check the task manager to see the Page file usage. The one computer I worked on that had this error was using almost all of the paging file. This computer had intermittant license error. I could not get into Safe Mode. Recreating the page file cleared up the problem. We have other computers in the company that also are having this problem and so far no validated fix yet from our engineering group.

Same Problem

by wendydexter In reply to Error code x80090019

I'm troubleshooting a similar issue. We've loaded the box several times with a fresh xp install. I update OS patches, restart we are ok, I install a scsi card and the Kofax driver and restart and then I get the wonderful error, "A problem is preventing windows from accurately checking your license.... error code 0x80090019. This computer was in use for over a month when last week the developer reported the error. I'm guessing a MS service pack, but I"m not positive. This kofax driver also installs something called Sentinel Protection Server.. so I'm on the trail for mine. I'll let you know what I come up with. Let me know if you have any ideas.
