By schira_enterprises ·
why does this folder fill up with 60-80 MEGS or more of these strange wbk files? Where do they come from? I don't even use IE and haven't for several years. This is really slowing my pc. Happens every few days until I use windows compress old files utility. HELP please..........

Are you using Word or Word Perfect? .wbk is the file extension for these files normally. I don't know why they would be saved in IE temp folder though. Can you delete them directly from the folder?
unless you have a key logger program...
Have you tried opening one to see whats inside. Try notepad.

Could be bad news

We find a lot of malware stored in that location. Lots of info on Google just using \Content.IE5\ as a search string, including ways to clean it. Could be that your computer is being used as a spam relay, if nothing worse.

IE temp files

If you are using ANY application that embeds the MS web browser control or powers IE (doesn't need to be visible to do this), it will also dump files into this directory as they are being pulled from the web just as if you were using IE yourself.
