By SonjaD34 ·
Could someone please tell me how to disable in the task bar. In Win98 it was in the system configuration(startup) but I cannot find it in XP.

Disabling Startup Programs

I guess what I am looking for is how to disable programs that are running in the taskbar next to the clock. In Win9x you could go into the system confuguration and clilck on the startup tab and uncheck it there, but in XP I cannot find it anywhere on how to disable them.

Run msconfig.exe - you will find some startup programs on the STartup tab, others will be in the registry under the run and runonce keys in various places. Be careful!
