    windows xp will not start!

    hello. my computer one day said that my system32 file was corrupt or missing. i put in the restore cd, but now it says that setup cannot continue because it does not detect any hard disk installed. it will not start even the recovery when i press r. is my hard drive fried? i took it out to test it on another computer and it worked. but when i put it in my computer, this keeps happening! do i have to install a RAID? please help!

      and locate where your ide devices are located usually with your system time.Run the detection process for all ide devices.Mke sure tey are not set to manual or auto and try the cd again.

      take it back to the other system and back up your data (just in case).

      Did you try to reseat or replace the cables?

      possible that the on-board controller is going on you.

      If the drive boots from another system, it points at the mother board or cables.
