WinNT or Win2k login

By aristo ·
I would prefer that the name last used to log in to winNT or win2000 not appear the next time I log in. I do not want the name "administrator" or the account-name last used to appear. I prefer a blank UserID, but would accept a dummy place-holder.

How would I do this?

WinNT or Win2k login

I was looking for the same thing. I dont remember where I found it, but open regedit and goto HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\microsoft\windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system from there right click in the right window and select NEW and then DWORD Value. Name it "dontdisplaylastusername" and give it a value of 1. I hope that makes sense.

Tried it out and found the value_entry, "dontdisplaylastusername" already listed with an existing assigned value of '0'. Changed it to '1', logged out and found it worked as expected.

Thx Tony

Win2K - Go to Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Local Security Policy | Local Policies | Security Options. Enable the "Do not display last user name" setting.

WinNT - Go to Start menu | Programs | Administrative Tools | System Policy Editor. Create a new policy if one doesn't exist. Go to Default Computer | Windows NT System | Logon. Enable the "Do not display last logged on user name" setting and save the policy.
