VLAN and a wireless access point

If all they need is internet access then you can set them up on a VLAN with a direct route to your internet connection and block them from access to your other network items, or give them access to printers and the interent access and whatever shares you feel they need.

      Client access

      Thanks for your help,

Just thinking how would you best secure traffic between the client/visitor and the access point. Is it possible to generate radom codes for visitors so they have a secure path from laptop to AP.
      Any ideas

      Cheers

        WPA or Mac Filtering

If you really want a secure connection then you might want to think about encryption like WPA or WPA2 or Mac filtering. Adding security will mean adding more work for the lan administrator. Also, if you have a radius server you can add more security but im not really familiar with radius.
