Wireless card not picking up any ip address

By bfadero ·
Hi there, I have a linksys wireless card on my laptop but for some reason, it is not able to connect to the internet. This use to work before it stopped about a week ago. The strange thing is that it is able to detect the wireless access point with 100% signal strength but just won't connect to the internet. I checked the IP address and found that it was an internal one 169.1xx...I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver but that doesn't seem to have helped. I have another laptop in the house which connects to the internet without any problems

Does the wireless card work in the other laptop? You aren't clear on whether you are using the same card in both laptops.

Have you tried using the wireless card in both card slots?

Have you this?

Try disabling and re-enabling it via Network Connections.

Have you tried assigning a static IP address, this should tell you if the card is at fault.
