Wireless connection for a laptop when travelling

By skibber ·
I just purchased a laptop to take with us when we travel throughout Canada & the U.S. What kind of air card can I purchase that will give me the best access? We will be in a lot of rural areas, rarely urban. Is there a difference in the kind of card you have to use in the USA or Canada? I am totally new at this.

Cell Phone Companies...

Find which company covers your area best. Most people in my area in SE MIchigan and Ontario, Canada tend to use Verizon. Thing is the area you live in Sprint might offer a better card, so might T-mobile. I am not a big fan of Cingular(AT&T). Just check the coverage areas for the places you will be in specifically rural because generally in urban areas there are hotspots you can use for free with a normal PC wireless card.
