Stretched, Punched and Kicked

by R. A. Caluste In reply to Wisdom of the Jabberwocky

It's been a while since I had a good exercise. Normally I jog, or lift weights, but today's experience was a first.

We were supposed to go to the Bay City Promenade and have our normal jog and stroll near at the seaside but things didn't go our way when hundreds of SM employees decided to cordon the place with their security guards and have the _entire_ place for their own exclusive use. Well, since the place is just beside their soon to open SM Mall of Asia, they may as well own the place and displace hundreds of bikers and joggers that frequent the place on a good Sunday morning.

From the Bay City Promenade area, we transferred to the side of CCP Complex. It's very crowded compared to the former, but there is something more in here too: aerobics instructors. The instructors are scattered in several different locations, each having a group of 20-60 followers doing dance aerobics and tae-bo.

Me and Rose decided to join one particular group; it's small and it's about to start. We started off doing stretchings; front and sides, touching-your-toes, etc. For somebody who's 8-5 involves sitting in front of a computer everyday, it's not an easy task.

After the stretchings, we started doing tae-bo. Well, being a boxing fan helped in the motivation department; I'd rather do taebo in public than participte in the dance aerobics. We started doing slow punchings and the tempo went faster by the minute. Nearing the end, we were doing not only punches, but side kicks and skip ropes as well.

It's was a really good workout. My entire body felt sore afterwards, but it was good.
Not very often do you get stretched, punched and kicked and felt good.

This post originally appeared on an external website
