Several problems at the same time

Since newer machines boot so fast, it can be difficult to bring up the Setup screen. Try continuously tapping the F2 key just after pushing the power button to power up the computer.

A hard drive with Windows installed from another laptop won't work since the hard drive controller driver is baked into the OS. The only way to make an existing Windows install on a hard drive boot to a different hard drive controller is, with the drive installed in the original computer, set the hard drive controller type to 'generic Microsoft'. This works in XP, and I believe 7 works the same way.

Then it has a chance to boot from a machine you transfer the hard drive into. It may be possible to fix this by doing a repair install of Windows by booting from CD.

I have tryed the f2 key many times even holding it down while powering up. It won't boot from a cd or a usb drive either.
