    word formatting in templates

We have a number of company templates in use that are located on a server. They should display something to the effect of a logo at the top, and a to, from, phone, etc field down the page with a form field beside each field. We are currently usingroaming profiles on a w2k network. Office 2000 software. On 2 users, the logo is not showing up at the top, instead there is some text referring to the link. Also where the form fileds show up is the entry [form text]. You can’t change the form text entry. This occurs wherever they log on. Other users can log on to the same pc and the forms come up fine, so it is something in their profile. However I have no idea what might be causing it. ANy suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated. THanks!

Office 2000? Are you using Outlook 2000?

Ultimately, Outlook is capable of using “Plain Text” or “Rich Text” or “HTML” formatting.

Graphics/logos will appear with “HTML” or, I believe, with “Rich Text” formatting…. but if users (and you cannot control which formatting external user will be using for e-mail delivery) are using Plain Text, they will not see graphics or logos.

If using Outlook…. go to Tools –> Options –> Mail Format and see what the users are set to who cannot see the graphics. Change it to Rich Text and test. Or change to HTML and test.

Again external users will tend to use Pain Text because transmission/receipt is a whole lot faster when plain text is used and the graphics is cut out (graphics add a lot to file size).

Sorry, should have been more specific. This is occurring only in word 2000. We have some templates in excel, and those are working fine.

Go to Tools>Options View and remove the check mark from Field codes.
You can toggle individual field by selecting the field and hitting Alt or Shift+F9

That did it. Both of the users admitted to changing various selections in the view tab.
