XP logging onto NT server as admin

By sister-Inlaw ·
I have mapped drives on an xp machine logging onto an NT 4.0 server through domain control as administrator. However each time I log off and log on to the xp machine it requires a password to reconnect-- is there any way to save permanantly? The reason I have administrator logging in is because for this particular machine I get errors of a regular user stating that 'too many people are logged in'. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Are these systems in domains?

If they are, you just need a trust relationship set up. Then you could grant the domain account rights on shares on the NT server.

If either system is in a workgroup, you will have to continue to input a user name and password.

No True, You can always use the net use from the command line like so.
"net use x: \\servername\sharename /user:domain\administrator thepassword"

And put that in a .cmd or .bat file and drop it into your startup or registry for autoconnecting. After that I would "hide" the file so prying eyes can't easily see it.
Good luck
Mike

xp home or pro? has it joined the domain
how are you logging onto the xp box? think you need login script mapping the drives with admin ussername and password as suggested...
using the admin account just temporary to get it working while you figure out why this error, yes???
do you think MS is going to come out with 'network lite'? you just agree to be responsible for security and everthing opens up. that was wfw, i guess..
