I am receiving zip files and have been unable to open them.

Go to http://www.download.com and download “winzip”. Winzip will allow you to unzip files zipped. There are also other unzip utilities out there… but basically you need to download and install an unzip utility program.

If you happen to be a Mac user, you just need to get StuffIt Expander from http://www.aladdinsys.com, which will open .zip archives besides most other standard archive types, such as .tar, .gz, .bzip, and .sit (its native archive type).

StuffIt is available for Windows, Solaris, and Linux users as well, and its Lite suite that allows creation of such archives is at least as good a deal as WinZIP on all accounts.

Preferably I prefer to use WinAce which is a useful tool of extracting any compressed file. Goto http://www.winace.com then click on the “Download Centre” link. Click on “Popular Download Sites” then click on “Tucows” to download WinAce 2.11 demo versionfrom a server closet to your location. The demo version is not crippled in anyway but is only a 30 day trail version where you will then be required to register the product.
