Auto forward business emails to personal mail

Dear experts,
Kindly support..
I???d like to auto forward all emails I receive at my business email to my personal email, ???ve already configured outlook rules to do that but it doesn???t work
(Just for test) I???ve re-configured outlook to auto forward all my business email to another business email, it works well
So I guess our business email server has some restrictions or security issue to auto forward emails to personal one
Do you know how to bypass it, I need it urgently to easily backup all my business emails

    there well may be restrictions on forwarding emails to your home computer. If there isn't, they may help you in getting it set up.

    log off work PC, outlook will not forward, just lock your PC at work

    Hi Hessin_H,
    It really would be best to discuss it with your IT folks. Where I work it is against policy and circumventing policy can get you fired! They may have disabled the function, in which case it would be safe to say. It is against company policy.
    We have webmail and have been able to set up a rules based function to work to forward email. Its not easy to find work I'm not about to make anyone in IT upset with me.

    This is potentially dangerous activity - not knowing the company or the restrictions or data sensitivity. If there is DLP and other such controls, your company takes data loss very seriously and you could be liable. please consultant with your IT department for what is acceptable.
    Having said that - standard rules disallow auto-forwarding to the popular email ids i.e. yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc. You could set up a non-standard personal email id to receive these emails.

    What she/he said is right on the money.
    Forwarding is normally configured on the server side, so unless you have access to that particular control, then your email admin is the only way to get it done, assuming the company doesn't mind that it is.

    Your request states "I need it urgently to easily backup all my business emails" while at the same time "I guess our business email server has some restrictions or security issue to auto forward emails to personal one" and in one of your followups/replies you state "I prefer founding solution by my-self as they don't want to help." This points to a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose of business email.

    These are not _your_ messages, they belong to the business. Therefore the business gets to set the rules as to how they are to be used and kept (documented in acceptable use and other business and IT policies) and enforce those rules (through their agents in the IT department). While I don't support the view that IT should always have the last word on everything, in this case they seem to be on the right side of the issues (admittedly based on limited information).

    If what you need is access to the messages from another location, IT can and should help with that (as long as it doesn't violate policies). If there is a justifiable _business need_ for keeping a duplicate set of the messages then IT should engage in developing a solution that meets the user and business need and maintains compliance with applicable policies, regulations, and laws. I seriously doubt that it will include archiving to a data center outside the organization, because then the information is no longer under the control of, or protected by the processes and policies of, the owning organization.

    Dear All,
    Thanks a lot for your contributions, while I see my issue is more simple than you expect..
    We have limitations in our business email box (and it's time consuming task to clean your inbox from not important emails and keep only that important one)
    that's why I'm seeking for solution to auto forward all emails to my personal email so I could have backup for any further review, etc

    I've forgot to mention that manual forward is working properly for any kind of emails

    Yes, but the issue is auto responder/auto forward. That will be throttled at the MTA level (e.g. Exchange server). I bet if you set out-of-office and send yourself an e-mail from your external account you won't get a reply.

    This is a security precaution to make certain information is not released beyond corporate walls without direct employee oversight and accountability.

    Based on the detail you have supplied so far there doesn't seem to a real case for overriding your messaging group on this.This really isn't an issue of them being domineering, it's a good idea!

    Enterprise typically frowns on any internal-external forwarding, including out-of-office replies to external domains.

    If backing up the data is your only requirement why dont you configure your business email on outlook and create psts to store all emails on your desktop / notebook. As already highlighted by others, forwarding emails to non-business domains might constitute as InfoSec Breach which is against the org policy for any org (if they have one) :)

    Precisely and if I may add most people carry portable storage devices and have their archive folders in it. Most Companies follow strict IT policies due to high rate of cyber crime and violation or lapse on your part WILL be very bad. Like all others have mentioned, if you need to auto forward biz mails for what ever reason just communicate the same to your IT team and they will let you know how to do it or why not...
