Best Laptop/Tablet Combo for Online Small Business

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post. I have read alot of the discussions here and compared to most other tech sites is alot more civil and have learned alot from the comments linked to the articles here. Thought this would be the best place to get an answer(s) to my question(s).

First, a bit about me. I'm looking to start a network of websites and hopefully in the near future if everything goes well get into college majoring in computer science/programming.

I'm looking for a laptop able to run programs like Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and a video editor. I also read alot and game when I can.

I was thinking at first of a laptop for the heavy duty work and buying a separate tablet for the reading and gaming. Then I remembered about the hybrid/convertible laptops. Have they reached a point to be viable for what I want? Or are they still too new in the market and I should stick to buying two separate devices?

Budget for a laptop is around $750. Would be willing to look at models a bit higher if it has more bang for the buck. For a tablet, I wouldn't be willing to spend more than $300 unless there is a good argument for it or its not too much overbudget. I've only used Windows computers. I've used apple iOS products (iPhone, iTouch, iPad, etc.) before but never actually owned one (unless an iPod counts). I have a Kindle Fire but it belongs to my daughter and wife and since I would be using it for studying/business I wouldn't want it to accidentally be broken or my info deleted.

I was looking at the Kindle Fire HD 7 inch model but have been unable to narrow down my choices about the laptop. Brand doesn't matter. Laptop has to have at least 500GB HD. Regarding RAM, I tend to get machines with low RAM but with expansion slots and buy whatever amount is needed to max it out to save a few bucks.

Thanks in advance for all the help.
