Can't see USB flash drive

eroon2
Using WinXP. Bought a new USB flash drive (Kingston). Since then can't see any other flash drive in My Computer, even though I used to see them before. The only one I can see is the new one. Can anybody explain? Thanks.

When another flash drive is plugged in, go to disk management and reassign to another drive letter

On my work PC I have noticed that all flash drives get mapped to the same letter as a network share. I don't know if they did this on purpose or if it is a happy coincidence.

Anyway, the solution is as w2k says, go to disk mgmt and see if it is there. If so, reassign it.

BTW, w2k, Does Windows now let you mount USB drives under existing directories? If so, it might be a good idea to create a drive U: for USB devices and then create seperate directories for each USB device and get them to mount there. That way you won't run out of drive letters and can keep your flash drives organized with more than one plugged in.

I have not tried mounting them like that. I usually use SD cards and a built-in card reader. So the drive is mounted at the reader and I can swap as many sd cards in/out that I want to.

I also have a USB cardreader for SD cards, which always come in handy for 'on the go'. It works the same way.
