CD/DVD not recognizing!!!!!

Shaman141083
Hi guys,
My computer is not able to detect the CD/DVD drive. Tried all the troubleshooting steps like deleting UPPER FILTER/LOWER FILTER. RE-installing drivers for the drive and checked the connection. But still not able to detect the drive. Any suggestion how to fix this issue other than Re-installing the OS.

What does it say for the CD/DVD ROMs in the device manager?

Nothing...In device manager also Cd/Dvd is not showing up. I even tried un-installing the latest upadates and disabled the anti-virus application. Didn't help much..

    What happened exactly?

Were you trying to upgrade/replace the CD/DVD drive? Was it ever working?

If you were installing/replacing the drive (or doing any other work in the PC) double check that the connectins (data and power) are properly connected.

Otherwise, device manager should give you some additional info about what might be wrong. You can right-click the root level of the list view (the PC) in device manager and choose to scan for hardware changes to try to get it to show up.

First thing is to check to see if it is being picked up in the BIOS. If it is not there check your Cables. Try another Cable. If BIOS cant detect it then replace it.

If it is detected in the BIOS try booting from a Bootable CD to see if it is working.

Thank you for the suggestions guys.

Yes, I can see the Cd/Dvd drive been detected in the BIOS. Only option left with me is re-installing the Operating System which I prefer not to do.

HI, are you using a IDE or SATA drive? in either case have you tried to uninstall the embedded controller(IDE or SATA storage controller) then scan for hardware changes? that "should" re-detect any drives that are attached to the system..hope it helps
