If you want to leave some level of USB access but disable specific devices, the best way to go is to set up the user account with limited privledges. Specifically, the user account can not be allowed to install device drivers and perhaps even software. Then, as administrator, or as part of your base configuration, install the device drivers for the allowed USB devices. As to the firm-ware level on the device, with the proper software and access codes, many phones and other USB devices can be configured to limit what functions are available. Depending on the device, you can configure the USB port to only allow the device to be charged from the USB connection. I would like to block access to firmware, so that they wouldn't change the firmware or program of the phone, but that they should have access to recharge the phone and maybe access to transfer their contact list. + 0 Votes Group Policy a.portman 2 years ago You can set a group policy to shut down all of the USB ports if that is what you are after. This will tell you all about it. http://www.petri.co.il/disable_usb_disks_with_gpo.htm Of course, all is all. It may not be what you are after.
